Can I export everything and migrate away from UIID if I change my mind later?

Short answer: yes, and the architecture is built so that this is genuinely possible, not just a promise.

Your identity is not rented. You can export your full identity — or a single alias on its own — as a .uiid file at any time from uiid.me. Nobody has to grant you permission first.

It's built on open standards, not a proprietary format. UIID uses Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials, both W3C standards. That doesn't guarantee a one-click import into a different identity provider today, but it does mean the underlying format isn't designed to lock you in artificially.

What doesn't travel automatically: community memberships, application-specific data stored under an alias, and badges issued by a specific Verifier are tied to the Web4 ecosystem itself, not to a competing platform.

Before you decide to leave entirely: consider whether your actual concern is privacy (already addressed by aliases) or a specific service (leaving a network doesn't affect your UIID at all).
