Because each one owns a different layer of the internet.
Instead of one enormous app trying to do everything, Web4 splits the stack into seven layers, each with its own name.
Layer | Name | What it does |
|---|---|---|
1 | UIID | Your identity |
2 | VIVON | Mobile connectivity |
3 | ARCTIC | Distributed compute and storage |
4 | HELION | Browsing, routing and naming |
5 | TRIVE | Business software and tools |
6 | ATRIUM | Communities and apps |
7 | WYNIX | Hardware |
Then there are tools inside those layers. GLACIER is the AI studio inside TRIVE. LNS and BRIDGE belong to HELION. W4OS runs on WYNIX devices.
And some names are the company, not a product. LINKSPREED, Web4 GROUP, LSP GROUP, DEV.UNITY, Y-LAB, HORIZON and GRAVITY 51 describe the organization behind the ecosystem. They do not appear in the seven-layer model at all.
