What a Verifier is: An organization authorized to issue verifiable credentials to other identities — a university confirming a degree, an association confirming membership, an employer confirming employment.
Why it is useful: A badge sits on the holder's own identity, so it travels with them across every Web4 application. Recipients do not have to re-prove the same thing to every service, and services can check the badge type, level and issue date without running their own verification.
How to apply: From an organization account, apply for Verifier status directly. Organization, business and company account types all qualify.
Designing the badge: The Institutional Badge Builder lets you define exactly which fields an applicant must supply, so the credential collects what your process actually needs rather than a fixed template.
Before you start, decide three things: what the badge asserts, who is eligible, and what would cause you to withdraw it. A credential is only as good as the process behind it.
