Choose Web4 Lite if you want to self-host on your own servers. Web4 Lite is the open-source foundation on GitHub — leaner than the full stack, and it assumes you are comfortable running infrastructure.
What you are taking on with @home: Your own hardware, your own power, your own connection and your own backups. Nobody else is on call if the device stops responding.
Why it exists at all: Digital sovereignty that requires a data-centre budget is sovereignty for the well-funded only. It shipped roughly 1.5 years ahead of its original 2026 schedule.
