What kind of work happens inside HORIZON?

The unit: HORIZON is one of two units under Y-LAB, the group's research and innovation division. GRAVITY 51 is the other.

The difference between them: GRAVITY 51 brings in ideas from outside by acquiring a majority stake in early-stage ventures. HORIZON works on ideas that originate internally — ambitious, high-risk moonshot projects that are still far from proven or market-ready.

Why it is deliberately separate from the product line: Keeping exploratory work outside the shipping product line means unproven ideas can be tested without disrupting the seven Web4 layers customers depend on, and without every experiment having to justify itself as a future product.

What happens to a HORIZON project: Nothing moves into the wider ecosystem automatically. HORIZON provides the space to investigate a concept before any decision is made about whether it goes further.
