The unit: HELION is the Web4 GROUP unit responsible for Layer 4 — browsing, routing and naming.
What it covers: The layer where a person's verified identity meets self-owned domains, with the aim of reducing bot traffic, phishing and advertising-driven tracking during everyday browsing and searching. LNS, Web4's naming service, and BRIDGE, the browser that opens web4:// addresses, both belong to this layer.
Why it is still in development: This layer does not just add a feature to the existing web — it replaces how addresses are resolved. That means a naming service with its own registry and browser software that understands identity-anchored names, neither of which can be shipped halfway.
An honest note on timelines: Specific features and dates may continue to evolve ahead of launch. If you are planning a business around it, treat HELION and LNS as not yet something to commit to.
