Why does a software company build its own connectivity layer?

The unit: VIVON is the Web4 GROUP unit responsible for Layer 2, physical mobile access.

The reasoning: Ownership that stops at the software layer is incomplete. If your identity is self-owned but your connection still runs through a carrier that logs who you are, where you are and who you talk to, the sovereignty leaks out at the network level.

What that means in practice: VIVON combines global eSIM data access with metadata shielding, so you are neither tied to a single carrier contract nor tracked the way a traditional telecom provider would track you. Calls and messaging are tied to your Web4 identity rather than to a phone number.

Current stage: The VIVON app is in closed beta ahead of a wider release. Features and timelines may still change.
